Villa Pyrgos Loft
Pyrgos, Santorini, Greece
The villa is located in the village of Pyrgos, with the capital town of Fira 5 kilometres and Santorini International Airport 6 kilometres from the villa.
Loft style living comes to Santorini in dramatic style with the sleek and sophisticated Pyrgos Loft. Restored from its original use as a collection of four wine and tsipuro production units, with an impressive quota or space and natural light, the result is a unique holiday villa for up to sixteen guests.
A true restoration project with a deep understanding of the architecture involved, Pyrgos Loft is a fine example of how to convert unusual spaces into luxury accommodation. Located just under the historic landmark of Pyrgos Castle, one of the first hallmarks you will notice inside the loft is the huge piece of machinery that sits like a sculpture in one of the main living spaces. A local craftsman was commissioned to work on the impressive floors, fusing colour and cement with a high-end matte finish, and elsewhere the space is punctuated with domes, arches and small viewing windows.
High ceilings are one of the defining features of the villa, and a rarity on the island, but the outdoor spaces are equally distinctive, with two spacious outdoor pool terraces and other alfresco zones to explore and enjoy the fine Greek weather. The inside is split into four separate units, which can either be booked as one whole estate for larger groups or independently, and each comes with its own kitchen space and bedroom(s), allowing for privacy and flexibility.
The village of Pyrgos is a desirable setting for the loft, with the historic castle and nearby wineries easily reached, and there is even a manual 5-seat car rental included allowing you to explore other areas of the island such as picturesque Oia.

Located on the northern Troödos foothills, the charm of this small resort lies in its remoteness. Kato Pyrgos is about as far out of the way as you can get in the Republic, yet attracts a regular summer clientele of Cypriots, who come to escape the commercialism that they feel has overwhelmed the more popular coastal resorts.
The approach is via Pomos and a winding coastal route flanked by undulating countryside punctuated by the occasional flock of goats. Past the Turkish Cypriot enclave of Erenköy (Kokkina), the road drops down to the Med and into the centre with its handful of coffee shops and restaurants flanking a small square shaded by a soaring oak tree, which is said to date from 1898. Don’t expect palm-fringed promenades and white sandy beaches; Kato Pyrgos has a mildly shabby, old-fashioned appeal.
Starting with one of the most iconic of settings, head over to Oia for a lazy afternoon stroll around this cliff-top town. If you’re looking to watch the sunset, you can either find a spot in the town itself or book a table in one of the restaurants that overlook the town.
No holidays would be complete without seeing Atlantis - Well over 3000 years ago, a catastrophic volcanic eruption consumed Santorini causing the middle of the island to disappear into the ocean below, with the island long assumed to be the home of the legend of Atlantis. The Volcanic eruption was one of the biggest eruptions in the world and happened around 1,600 BC.
